GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Vice President of Community Impact & Investment (VPCII) serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and works closely with the CEO to advance the organization's mission, strengthen community relationships, and drive long-term sustainability. This role leads efforts related to community engagement, strategic partnerships, advocacy, public investment, and resource development, ensuring that the organization remains a trusted and influential partner across Arizona.
The VPCII is responsible for building and maintaining meaningful relationships with funders, community leaders, government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and strategic partners. By aligning investments and partnerships with organizational priorities, this leader helps create measurable outcomes that improve the lives of children, youth, and families. The VPCII position will travel extensively, including frequent overnight travel, to support partnership development, community engagement, and organizational priorities.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Partner closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to help shape organizational strategy and priorities.
- Lead initiatives that strengthen community impact, support organizational growth, diversify funding, and expand external engagement.
- Develop and implement community investment strategies that respond to emerging needs while advancing organizational goals.
- Elevate the organization's visibility, reputation, and influence throughout Arizona and, when appropriate, on a national level.
- Represent the organization in community coalitions, public forums, legislative discussions, and strategic partnerships.
- Actively participate in community meetings, networking events, chamber activities, and other opportunities that align with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.
Community Engagement & Partnerships:
- Cultivate and sustain strong partnerships with government agencies, foundations, healthcare systems, school districts, corporations, and community-based organizations.
- Create collaborative initiatives that strengthen systems of care and improve outcomes for children and families.
- Build authentic relationships with community stakeholders and ensure community perspectives help inform organizational decision-making.
- Identify and advance opportunities for collective impact efforts and cross-sector collaboration.
Grants & Resource Development:
- Lead efforts to diversify revenue streams and secure sustainable funding sources.
- Oversee and support grant development activities, particularly for Early Childhood and Youth Prevention programs.
- Partner with leadership to develop and implement annual fundraising and community investment strategies.
- Work collaboratively with program and executive leaders to ensure donor and funder investments are aligned with measurable outcomes and organizational priorities. Advocacy & Public Affairs
- Stay informed about public policy developments, funding opportunities, and emerging issues affecting children, youth, and families.
- Help shape and support advocacy strategies that reflect the organization's mission and values.
- Strengthen relationships with elected officials, government leaders, and other key community influencers.
- Serve as an organizational spokesperson and ambassador as designated by the CEO. Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Assist in creating and overseeing an agency -wide intern program
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the Director of Advocacy and collaborate closely with AZECA.
- Guide and support innovation initiatives aligned with the agency's Strategic Plan.
- Work across departments—including Programs, Marketing, and Development—to align external investments with organizational priorities and community outcomes.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Establish clear goals and performance measures to evaluate community engagement efforts and organizational impact.
- Ensure strong stewardship, reporting, compliance, and accountability for grants, contracts, and philanthropic investments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit leadership, public administration, business administration, communications, social work, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, philanthropy, community engagement, public affairs, or related field.
- Demonstrated Experience in strategic partnerships and community leadership.
- Experience working with executive leadership teams and Boards of Directors.
- Strong understanding of community-based services and systems impacting children and families.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and relationship-building skills.
- Strong public speaking, communication, and executive presence.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and complex initiatives.
- Experience developing and managing budgets, funding strategies, and performance metrics.
- Ability to analyze community trends, funding landscapes, and organizational opportunities.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive leadership.
- High level of professionalism, diplomacy, and emotional intelligence.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including frequent overnight travel, to support partnership development, community engagement, and organizational priorities.
- Maintain a functional and safe home working space with adequate internet connection for the job.
- Comply with all agency and program policies and procedures including confidentiality, employee conduct, computer usage and dress code.
- Meet program/department’s performance and productivity standards.
- Attend required agency and program/department meetings.
- Adhere to the schedule agreed upon with the supervisor.

- Must be eligible and able to obtain a Level one fingerprint card.
- Must have a valid Arizona driver’s license, Arizona vehicle registration, and meet agency and Arizona liability insurance requirements.
ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting for extended periods of time daily; standing and walking short distances.
- Moderate twisting, bending, stooping and lifting up to 40 pounds in the performance of assigned duties.
- Ability to use a variety of office equipment and machines as referenced.
- Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination required.
- Repeated hand-wrist movement required.
The nature of the position involves a fast paced working environment with multitasking of many different duties and tasks. General daily priorities may change at a moment’s notice and the position requires quick response time and flexibility.
